Aberfeldy 12 Year Old Single Malt Scotch Whisky 700ml
Scottish alchemy, turning water, barley and yeast into liquid gold, comes naturally when the stream flowing nearby carries traces of that precious metal. Built on land famed for gold deposits, the distillery has welcomed visitors to taste its treasure since 1898.
Set on the banks of the River Tay in the Central Highlands of Scotland, the distillery stands close to the birthplace of its founder and pioneer of blending, John Dewar. With land acquired from the Marquess of Breadalbane and architecture designed by Charles Doig, it began production in 1898.
In John’s home town of Aberfeldy, his family discovered skilled craftsmen who understood the art of exceptional whisky making. Today, traditional methods are still used, including long fermentation to develop distinctive honeyed notes, with water drawn from the Pitilie Burn, renowned for its purity and its historic association with gold.
Matured for 12 years in handmade oak casks, this smooth, sweet dram offers rewarding depth for those who wish to explore further. A portion is lost to the angels along the way, with nearly a third of each cask naturally evaporating before the whisky is ready to be bottled.
