It takes an inquisitive, questing spirit to achieve truly remarkable results. Over the years, PJ Rigney has travelled from the familiar into the unknown, and eventually settled in the wild, unspoilt landscape of Drumshanbo in County Leitrim. There, his curious mind, inspired by the great Eastern traditions of distilling fruit, herbs and botanicals, set to work.

He established The Shed Distillery, complete with medieval style copper pot stills, and began a journey to fuse oriental botanicals with native Irish ingredients. The combination proved remarkably successful. The result of this passionate exploration is Drumshanbo Gunpowder Irish Gin, a truly unique and extraordinary spirit, as distinctive as the elusive creature occasionally spotted in the surrounding fields, the Drumshanbo Jackalope.

Slow distilled by hand in medieval style copper pot stills, the gin is crafted using oriental botanicals and gunpowder tea. Eight pot still botanicals and four vapour infused botanicals are combined following traditional Eastern distilling methods. Every bottle is hand filled, labelled and sealed by a dedicated team of distillers.
