Maker’s Mark 46 is crafted by starting with the original Maker’s Mark whisky. The barrels are emptied to allow the addition of extra French oak staves, after which the whisky is returned and aged to taste. This process gives Maker’s 46 its distinctive caramel and toasted oak flavour, while minimising the bitterness that can develop in longer-aged whiskies.
