Mizunara oak is among the rarest and most valuable oak varieties in the world. The ancient tree is renowned for its striking form, growing slowly as its trunk and branches twist and turn over time. Patience is essential, as it can take up to 200 years for Mizunara oak to reach maturity suitable for crafting a whisky cask.

Balance and precision are used to complement the unique character of Mizunara oak. The Head Distiller at Lark Distilling Co. carefully selected second fill bourbon casks to ensure a mature and well rounded spirit, allowing the subtle influence of the oak to shine through from cask to glass.

Tasting Notes

Nose: Fresh orange blossom, coconut, sandalwood, lemon, green apple, rose and green tea.

Palate: Bright toasted oak, cherry and apple pie, followed by coconut, lychee, guava, pear and fresh apple flavours.
