In the Tamil dialect, Kadhambam means ‘mixture’ or ‘combination’, a fitting name given that this whisky is matured in rum, sherry and brandy casks, creating a truly distinctive spirit.

Tasting notes
Colour, polished copper. A densely packed aroma, as is expected from Amrut Distilleries, offering a fusion of sweet spices, charred oak and nuttiness on the nose. Initially quite tightly bound, allowing three to four minutes of breathing time to reveal a peaty character, with smouldering cedar and burning pine cones developing gradually.

The whisky is bold but not overwhelming, with a weighty malt backbone supported by lively pepper spice and dried fruit characteristics on the palate. The finish is lightly acidic, tannic and chewy, with woody cigar box notes and flashes of dried fruit lingering in the aftertaste. With so many elements appearing at once, the overall definition may seem somewhat obscured, perhaps suggesting one barrel too many in the blend.
