Glenmorangie Legends The Tayne Single Malt Scotch Whisky (1L)

Presented in an extremely limited one litre format.

The Tayne is the second release in the Travel Retail Legends collection, which, like the Private Editions, will continue to expand over the coming years. Each expression is presented in honour of a Highland legend. Tayne refers to the local tale of a Spanish galleon’s lost treasure in the depths of the Tayne Firth, now known as Dornoch. This no age statement whisky has been finished in selected Amontillado sherry casks.

Tasting note, deep brassy gold. Heavier than most Glenmorangie expressions on the nose, with orange zest alongside plum tart and vanilla. Developing into notes of walnut fudge with hints of white pepper. The palate is exceptionally silky, gliding over the tongue with satiny, off dry flavours of orange spice cake and pear tart. Juicy date, almond and walnut follow, with a trace of salinity in the finish. Lumsden has noted that the lightness of Glenmorangie’s spirit does not always suit sherry casks, as it can be easily overwhelmed, however the balance here appears finely judged.
