As a sound introduction to the Oloroso matured style, this is hard to beat. The sherry character comes through in high definition, especially on the palate, with intense flavours of walnut and date cake, mixed nuts and dried fruits. Tangy Seville orange and vibrant spices lift the finish.
Cocoa, salted hazelnuts, new leather and a drying astringency follow in the aftertaste. While it could be better integrated, it stands up well against many more expensive Scottish equivalents. The high ABV and non chill filtration are added bonuses.
