It is situated in the city of \u003cspan class=\"hover:entity-accent entity-underline inline cursor-pointer align-baseline\"\u003e\u003cspan class=\"whitespace-normal\"\u003eAkashi\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/span\u003e in \u003cspan class=\"hover:entity-accent entity-underline inline cursor-pointer align-baseline\"\u003e\u003cspan class=\"whitespace-normal\"\u003eHyogo Prefecture\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/span\u003e, west of Kobe and overlooking the Seto Inland Sea.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp data-start=\"505\" data-end=\"821\"\u003eThe distillery’s origins trace back to \u003cspan class=\"hover:entity-accent entity-underline inline cursor-pointer align-baseline\"\u003e\u003cspan class=\"whitespace-normal\"\u003eEigashima Shuzo\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/span\u003e, which was founded in 1888 to produce sake. Although Eigashima Shuzo secured a whisky production licence in 1919, it was not until the move to its current premises in 1984 that White Oak Distillery, as it is known today, came into being.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp data-start=\"823\" data-end=\"1120\" data-is-last-node=\"\" data-is-only-node=\"\"\u003eWhite Oak’s stills operate for only one month each year, resulting in very limited production. The majority of its output is blended whisky, however when single malts are released they are labelled ‘Akashi’, named after the distillery’s hometown.
