Agneya, derived from the Sanskrit word meaning “belonging to fire”, is a lightly peated single malt whisky matured in sherry and bourbon casks, where depth and complexity unfold to capture the essence of fire and wood.

It is among India’s most refined and elegant whiskies, balancing complexity with notes of nuttiness and ripe fruit, followed by a gentle smokiness on the palate. Situated within the catchment area of the River Yamuna, Indri is not only the name of a charming village nestled in the Himalayan foothills, but also the home of our distillery.

This lush green landscape forms an integral part of India’s agricultural heartland. Our fields and maturation warehouses are shared with the majestic Indian peacock, which roams freely, a symbol of nature’s unrestrained grace.

Tasting Notes

Nose
Delicate hints of chocolate, intertwined with subtle vanilla sweetness, a touch of spice, dried apple and apricot. Notes of fruit jam and peat dust are complemented by earthy undertones.

Palate
Tropical fruits such as mango and ripe banana, alongside rich toffee and light spice, followed by a warm embrace of dried peat smoke. Melon adds a refreshing lift, while a sweet, fruity character lingers with a soft, rounded smokiness.

Finish
A balance of sweet and savoury nuances culminates in a smooth, smoky finish. Layered fruit sweetness and gentle spice leave a lasting impression with a long, satisfying close.
