Paul John Whisky Christmas Edition is part of a series where each annual release varies in presentation and maturation style. The 2022 edition was finished in ex bourbon, brandy and peated Oloroso sherry casks. This seventh edition in the series uses fewer cask types but is said by the distillery to deliver a level of complexity comparable to earlier releases.
The all Indian malt was initially matured in virgin oak casks before being finished in Caribbean rum casks, creating flavour notes of coconut and candied orange with toasted oak character. The palate reveals fruit tart, salted toffee and chewy tannins, making it an ideal festive whisky. Bottled at 46% ABV and non chill filtered.
Under the Liquor Licensing Act 1990 it is an offence: For liquor to be delivered to a person under the age of 18 years. Penalty: fine not exceeding 20 penalty units. For a person under the age of 18 years to purchase liquor. Penalty: fine not exceeding 10 penalty units
