The treasure aboard, valued at over a billion dollars, included jewels, gold and religious artefacts from the Se Cathedral in Goa, among them the Flaming Cross of Goa, crafted from solid gold and decorated with diamond, ruby and emerald inlays. The cross was so substantial that it required three men to lift it.
