Writers Tears Japanese Cask Finish Cask Strength Irish Whiskey 700ml

Originally a travel retail exclusive created to celebrate the Rugby World Cup in Japan, Writer's Tears Mizunara Oak Cask Strength is a cask strength marriage of Irish single malt and Irish single pot still whiskies, offering what is arguably a new sub category within Irish blends.

While single malt whisky is distilled from 100 per cent malted barley at a single distillery, single pot still whisky is also produced at one distillery but uses a mash bill combining malted and unmalted barley.

This expression is initially matured in ex bourbon casks before undergoing a nine month finish in rare Mizunara oak casks sourced from Japan, which impart additional notes of sandalwood, coconut, spice and Japanese incense.
